Site plan
Moscow of the future is a dynamic place, whose citizens are in constant search of themselves. Their progressive ideas symbolize streams of light moving randomly in space and pulsing with bright flashes. There is a mirror room made of aluminum sheets with a reflective surface in the center of the installation and a “light forest” around it made of vertical garlands through which the viewer passes. The use scenarios change depending on the animation mode of the LED strings.

The open competition, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Moscow Committee for Architecture, offered to grasp the future of Moscow architecture and was aimed at developing technological art in the urban environment. The jury considered more than 100 applications from professional architects and artists, as well as from creative citizens. The art installation by APEX, created by the team of Elena Strugovets (authors: Konstantin Andreev, Denis Vdovin and Anastasia Makharinskaya) became winner of this competition. According to our idea, the Thoughts Cloud simultaneously reflects the dynamism inherent in a big city - people, images, ideas, and suggests to slow down, look at and inside yourself.

Elena Strugovets, Chief Architect of APEX project bureau: “When we learned about the Talking City 2.0 competition, we immediately decided to participate. We loved the idea of dialogue between residents and the urban environment, the phenomenon of the interactive city. When forming the concept, we thought about implementation right away, analyzing each element in detail and minding the given budget. Thus was born a project that is concise in execution and at the same time impresses the viewer. The main idea was to create a memorable image not only inside, but also outside, to offer a creative space in which a person can be by oneself and think, dream and gain positive energy.”
