The elite apartment complex on Savvinskaya Embankment, which we are working on together with the American bureau ODA as general designer, cannot leave anyone indifferent. One can debate about what architecture should be like today, whether grid or form, glass or brick are more important, but we are sure of one thing: nowadays there are no rules - either you like it or you don't! In addition, for us it was a special, first full-fledged project interaction with colleagues from ODA. Throughout the year, work Savvinskaya 27 was carried out incessantly - at first in Moscow, and then the baton was passed to New York.

The location of the project reflects its status - Khamovniki, the very heart of Moscow, the embankment two minutes away from Novodevichy Ponds park – a true intersection of history, nature and new aesthetics. It was the proximity to Novodevichy Convent that influenced the image of the facades. Quaint, bionic bowl shapes are an allusion to the gold domes of the monastery and its soft, semicircular outlines. Yet such an allusion is not immediately evident, and everyone sees something of their own in the brilliance of warm metal, glass and light stone of the bases of the bowls: for example, the Americans themselves called them “petals”.
Facade solutions
History, or rather its new interpretation, is reflected not only in the facades of the complex, but also in the mural depicting the writer Hermann Hesse, which was was created by Alexandre Fartou (Vhils) in 2008 and moved to the north side of the project. As in the project of transportation the tower and wall of the Borets plant, our engineers developed detailed drawings of a metal truss - a unique design that will ensure the integrity and reliability of the wall fragment during its relocation.
