The main challenge for APEX architects was to fit the kindergarten building and the adjustment landscaping harmoniously on the site while keeping it functional and minding the existing restriction zones.
The inspiration for the architectural language of the kindergarten was the Lego kit: thus, each group cell is a separate cube. These cubes merge and create a complex shape that contributes to a variety of planning decisions and allows for interesting play spaces for children. The complex volume is complemented by laconic facades: their contrast simplicity emphasizes an unusual architectural solution, but at the same time avoids overloading the construction. Entrance groups located under the massive visors invites the guests inside and the backlight turns them into bright spots, underlined by consoles.
The white-yellow color scheme of the building’s facades is characterized by moderation and at the same time harmoniously fits into the concept of a preschool institution. A concise and simple selection of materials is intended to emphasize the unusual volume of the building, not to distract attention from it.
The landscaping zone takes up 80% of the site area allocated for the kindergarten. Green «islands» different in shape create an interesting pattern between playgrounds, and voluminous plantings set a rhythm to the relief of the park. Closer to the entrance of the building there is a sports field for young football players. The number of playgrounds equipped with modern small architectural forms intended for play and wooden canopies in the form of houses is designed to serve the exact number of kindergarten groups, which will simplify the organization of outdoor play and allow children to remain in sight of adults on their playing site.
