The residential complex on Simonovskaya embankment - one of the unique uninfected places in Moscow - is being implemented by APEX bureau based on an outline sketch of the tower facades by the Swedish bureau Semren & Mansson. The new project consists of 7 multi-storey dominant towers on the first line of the coast and 4 residential buildings in the form of brackets with variable number of storeys. The design area, which previously had industrial storage facilities and was unavailable for visiting citizens, now is designed as a modern residential area and city park. It combines all the conditions for a varied life such as a platform for events and meetings, an equipped recreation area near the water, a wooden amphitheater, and place for active and creative recreation, a preschool educational institution, a courtyard without cars with playgrounds and a large sports and recreation centre with a swimming pool. Whereas stylobate will have restaurants, cafes, shops and a fitness club will be located on the stylobate.

On the Eastern side of the complex, within walking distance there are Avtozavodskaya and Dubrovka metro stations, about 3 km away – Paveletsky railway station, metro station Paveletskaya, Dubrovka and Proletarskaya. The Krutitskaya and Simonovskaya embankments wrap around the site from the north. The project also encompasses the creation of an additional passage along Simonovskaya embankment. Adjacent forest zones, ponds, the Torpedo sports cluster, Simonovsky monastery, Streltsov sports complex, ZIL cultural center, kindergartens and schools provide a high standard of living in terms of a social and transport infrastructure developing.
The architectural expressiveness of the project is achieved by means of shaping and massing: the bending of the building emphasizing the contours of the coastline along with the Scandinavian-style twin towers, deployed in a manner allowing to provide better view characteristics – all above mentioned creates a stark silhouette of the residential complex. Sectional U-shaped houses in the form of wings create a calm neutral background and provide private space for the residents of the complex. While the bright dominant towers on the embankment, being energetic as while dancing and deployed from different angles, give complementarity to the overall look. The location of the towers inside the complex is designed to maximize the number of apartments with breathtaking views of the embankment. Conversely, their shadows protect residents from scorching sunlight in the spring- summer time.
The interconnection of architecture and surroundings served as inspiration for the stylistic solution of the facades. The walls of the building react to fresh river air and ripples of water, leaving an imprint on the facade in the form of a wave-like rhythm of loggias with delicate brass finish. The plasticity of the facades is achieved by means of subtle horizontal hooks, which symbolize the dynamics of wind gusts. This metaphor brings movement and lightness to the coastal zone of the complex.
Difference in height of the buildings makes possible to organize terraces on the upper floors. That is an integral solution in the design of water reservoirs where visual characteristics are always the “trump card” of the project. The lower part of the buildings is finished with clinker tiles with a textured surface - this allows maintaining a human scale and keeping general sense of comfort and feeling of coziness, which is so rare for large residential projects. Entrance groups are made in panoramic glazing; they mutually integrate the external and internal space of the complex and create a sense of continuity of the environment.
The main idea of the project is the conservation and landscaping of the natural embankment in Moscow within the Third Ring Road, the preservation of the coast specifics and the rethinking of the elements of the industrial past territory. By the aid of variety of landscape techniques, a unique environment is being created with alternate open and closed spaces. This alternation makes it possible to focus on different types of environments forming thereby diverse scenarios for the territory use. Flexuous curved-shaped wooden flooring has a special geometry: the lines of the routes are constantly changing, thus forming new recreation areas and walking paths for access to water.
